French Fancies have arrived...
...in print...
...in the current issue of STITCH magazine!
I loved making these little panels...
...and I hope folk will enjoy making them too :-)
I also offer workshops making lovely items in this theme "Lavender & Lace".
Have a look on the workshops page of my website and contact me if you are interested.

Long time.....no bloggy!!
Really sorry for the long absence.....
...but we flitted away to Frogland in order to visit a town called GRAY.....
...a delightful little town on the Saone in Franch Compte :-)
Well....
...it would have been rude not to wouldn't it?
we had some lovely days visiting Dijon, Besancon, Dole......
...and a beautiful little village called Pesmes.
(We always manage to find at least ONE little gem on our travels!!)
we got back to the UK just in time to drive straight to Birmingham for Festival of quilts...
...where I had a wonderful time...
...and met LOTS of wonderful people again!!
Workshop was brilliant...
...and I spent a glorious four days playing on Colourcraft's stand :-)
An added bonus too.....
....I have my "Chemanthy" panel in the current issue of "Stitch" magazine!
WeyHey!!
Now...
....head down....
...write...

Two project articles and a "Sketch to Stitch" to be done by Sept 1st :-o

...decisions and plans...
I had such a wonderful time at Fashion, Embroidery & Stitch!!!
......and met so many lovely people that either know me from my blog...
...or through Facebook.
Other folk too.....met for the very first time....
...but I'm sure it won't be the last :-)
I felt very lucky this year. Being on a Demo stand...
...and having a loan of a Pfaff Creative 3.0 to play with during the 4 days.
What a dream machine! Mostly the same as my own Creative 2.0, but with even more built in stitches and a touchscreen control panel.
If you're thinking of treating yourselves...
...this is THE machine to have!!
Of course, there were, as always, the lovely folk on stands selling beautiful bits and bobs...
...that one simply HAS to indulge in....
Gorgeous silks from The Silk Route...
...and little beauties from 21st Century Yarns.
Projects in mind for ALL of these....of course!! :-o
The show also provided the opportunity to meet up with much loved friends who cheerfully bump into each other at each one.....
Laura & Mike at Colourcraft; Claire at Thermofax; Hilary and Man at The Silk Route;
Jean & Walter at Oliver Twists; Michael Powell; Kim Thittichai; Christine Plummer; Angie Hughes; .....
...and many, many more......
A joy as always. Thanks ICHF!!
I have been doing a bit of thinking over the last couple of weeks.....
....about what to do....and which way to go with things now.
I've never done very big items, simply because of the amount of embellishment I tend to put on my stuff....
....but after having done some book forms in recent times I feel that I'd like to keep working that way....
...certainly for a while.
So.....
...small it is......and more mixed media as opposed to all stitch.
This will allow me to explore current interests and do small projects that don't take up too much time.
Thus I can flit from one thing to another while still carrying on with my writing and sample-making without tying myself to the chair for too long.
Well.....I am a Textile Butterfly after all aren't I?!
I have sooooooooooooooooo many bits and pieces to use....
...and new ideas in mind.
I shall be happy to share my progress with you all.....

Philippine-inspired tags 1 & 2
I've had to think quite carefully about the items folk will actually be making during the two hours that they spend with me as the ship travels from one port to another.
I decided on a "tag book" from the start...
...as it IS a holiday and luggage labels seem like suitable things to carry holiday memories.
I have to take most of the bits and pieces with me, but I'm hoping to pick up things like local newspapers, paper bags, wrappers, till receipts, postage stamps, low-value paper money etc on excursions.
These bits'n'bobs can then also be used to ground the memories as it were.
Obviously, luggage tags are only relatively small...
...therefore nothing TOO ambitious can be planned (and to be done in a couple of hours as well!)
So, I've gone for colour combos for the Philippines part of the trip...
...collaged, printed and stitched...
...using hand-dyed and prepared papers and batik fabrics.
Here are 1 and 2...
...blue skies, turquoise seas, shining sandy beaches...
The squiggly writing on the first one is a pre-Hispanic filipino script that I found on the net...
...I thought it would help to "place" things a bit...
3 & 4 to follow soon...
