Here's the final thing...finished today.
A bit of stamping....
...a bit of die-cutting....
... a bit of embossing...
...and a brad...
...which I then decided I really didn't like!
So...
...after a bit of rootling around...
...I was rewarded with the perfect bit of "stuff"...
...that I like MUCH more!
(Even though my workroom is now covered in bits of hair and fluff!)
Isn't he/she gorgeous?! :-)
Hope you all have a wonderful and creative weekend.

Pootling
Now all my samples are done for Friday...
...I'm in a bit of a quandary as to quite where to go next.
Yes...I have many, MANY projects in mind...
...but after a sustained period of doing for other things/people/publication...
...I find that when all the list has been ticked, I sort-of get a bit "stuck".
So, on my desk this Wednesday morning is this little pile of stuff.
I do so enjoy my "Lavender and Lace" theme...
...and always seem to be able to motivate myself if I have a play around with it!
After visiting the show at the NEC last weekend...
...I came back with loads of lovely mixed-media goodies, bought especially for this purpose. :-)
I'm thinking about twelve panels for a 2018 calendar...
...more small books...
...and some free-standing pieces too.
Watch this space...

Post before going....
I thought that I'd better get my act together and do another blog post before I take off north...
...to do some talks and workshops in York and West Bridgeford.
I have been doing quite a lot of stuff here...
...but some have to stay firmly under wraps (for now anyway)....sorry!
I can show you some pages from my Medieval Tile Tri-fold book though...
(This is the one that folk will be working on in my workshop here in May ...which is now full up :-)
So here goes...
I'll show a few more when I come back :-)
I always struggle to decide what "things to do" to take with me when I go away!
This time I'm away for 2 weeks...
...in a caravan on my own...
...so I will definitely need to be occupied!
I've been thinking about doing a small book on my "Lavender & Lace" theme for a little while now...
...so I've packed a box of goodies...
...rubber stamps...
...fabrics...
...laces...
...ephemera...
etc to help me while away my evening times.
I'll show a bit of that later too...
Right!
Time to sort out all the fabrics, threads, yarns and printblocks for the two workshops!

...decisions and plans...
I had such a wonderful time at Fashion, Embroidery & Stitch!!!
......and met so many lovely people that either know me from my blog...
...or through Facebook.
Other folk too.....met for the very first time....
...but I'm sure it won't be the last :-)
I felt very lucky this year. Being on a Demo stand...
...and having a loan of a Pfaff Creative 3.0 to play with during the 4 days.
What a dream machine! Mostly the same as my own Creative 2.0, but with even more built in stitches and a touchscreen control panel.
If you're thinking of treating yourselves...
...this is THE machine to have!!
Of course, there were, as always, the lovely folk on stands selling beautiful bits and bobs...
...that one simply HAS to indulge in....
Gorgeous silks from The Silk Route...
...and little beauties from 21st Century Yarns.
Projects in mind for ALL of these....of course!! :-o
The show also provided the opportunity to meet up with much loved friends who cheerfully bump into each other at each one.....
Laura & Mike at Colourcraft; Claire at Thermofax; Hilary and Man at The Silk Route;
Jean & Walter at Oliver Twists; Michael Powell; Kim Thittichai; Christine Plummer; Angie Hughes; .....
...and many, many more......
A joy as always. Thanks ICHF!!
I have been doing a bit of thinking over the last couple of weeks.....
....about what to do....and which way to go with things now.
I've never done very big items, simply because of the amount of embellishment I tend to put on my stuff....
....but after having done some book forms in recent times I feel that I'd like to keep working that way....
...certainly for a while.
So.....
...small it is......and more mixed media as opposed to all stitch.
This will allow me to explore current interests and do small projects that don't take up too much time.
Thus I can flit from one thing to another while still carrying on with my writing and sample-making without tying myself to the chair for too long.
Well.....I am a Textile Butterfly after all aren't I?!
I have sooooooooooooooooo many bits and pieces to use....
...and new ideas in mind.
I shall be happy to share my progress with you all.....

New workshop on the horizon...
Getting ready for my stint at Fashion, Embroidery & Stitch at the NEC next week.
I'm on Demo Stand ZP34...
...and will be showing "Magic" pieces...
...and...
...exciting new workshop and book work based on holiday or other experiences.
I'll be rolling out this new workshop in 2015, and the book will appear around about the same time.
The workshop title is...
"FROM SKETCHBOOK TO ART BOOK - MAKING MIXED-MEDIA MEMORIES"
My samples will be based on recent travels - with sketchbook pages worked from photos....
...tri-fold mixed-media art books containing drawings, copied photos and gathered bits...
...plus stitched pieces based on sketchbook pages.
Some pictures of pages and stitched pieces have been shown on the blog already...
...but here are some of the tri-fold book I've been working on this week...
(thanks to Roxanne for her online workshop "The Thread that Weaves" that gave me a push!)
ALL THAT I'VE DONE SO FAR WILL BE ON SHOW ON MY STAND...
.....and I'll be working on things throughout the four days too...
...SO COME ALONG AND HAVE A LOOK!!!
See you there

(I'm taking bookings for 2015 already - so if you want to reserve a workshop slot email me ASAP!)
