Looking.....and smelling good!!

The workroom smells wonderful today....

...wax (or oil) from the Markal Paintstik stencils...

...that are drying on the radiator!!

I'll enjoy the aroma until tomorrow...

...when I can iron them and then proceed with stitching :-)

And what am I doing I hear you ask...

...well...

....I have a bit of a "Japanese theme" going on...

Here's a bit of a flavour (in a purely pictorial sense of course!!)

Something tea related to go on the wall near my lovely Japanese tea set...

...some waves...

...one of a number of crests....

...and here's one I did earlier (cor...just like Blue Peter eh?)

...complete with metallic stitching!!

Some are for a tri-fold book that I've been working on for a little while now...

...and others are for the Contemporary Quilt Group Journal Quilt Challenge 2015...

...for which I have signed up.

Yes....I KNOW....haven't I got ENOUGH on my plate for this year already??!!!

Boff!

Tea & stitching....plus French Report part 3!

That bug has finally begun to bid it's farewell...

...and I've managed to get myself into the workspace and DO something!

I sorted out a basket of bits and made a good start on some new brooches...

...there's also been some experimentation with the Laurel  Burch fabrics on a Vilene base....

(These should be all wired-up into earrings by the weekend!)

And, of course, there has been tea!

A little beauty called "The du l'Abbaye"...

...intensely flowery and delicious....

...being drunk out of a very fine tea cup from Limoges....

...that looks like a sea-urchin with all it's little bobbly-bits!

I was VERY pleased with this find.....

It cost me 75 Euro-cents in the NOZ!!!! (Noz is one of those bankrupt stock type shops where you NEVER know WHAT you're going to find. If you are ever in France and see one on the edge of town. STOP! ....and go inside. You could come out with an absolute treasure for almost nothing :-)

The tea came from a lovely shop in Colmar....

Have a wander with me.....

(Sorry about the paw in that one...it was so bright, the sun made taking photos a bit difficult!)

I find this town quite magical!

...and there are a number of stitching projects lurking around in the camera...

...just waiting for their time to come.....

(I have a sneaky feeling that the last one here might get an airing before TOO long though......:-)))))

...it's Tuesday.....so it must be....

....or IS it?

Hey up.....it's on the move....

...completely off base now...

...and what exactly is THAT critter?...

That's more like it!

mmmmm.....

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm .....

"Peek-a Boo!"

Tea & Leaf Tuesday....

It's feeling a bit more like a "normal" Tuesday today....

...because the pills have helped me to get some sleep...

...so I'm packing my bag for choir tonight.

I've missed FOUR WEEKS with my bonkers little group...

...and I'll be glad to see them again!

Bloke bought me a "Bouquet of Flowers" for Christmas...

...in a tiny tin with "Kusmi" on it...

...and that's what is in my Portmeirion tea cup today.

Flowery (of course) and delicious...

...and making me feel ever-such-a-bit spoiled.

On the leaf is another little crocheted pot...

..made in creamy-white cotton and linen mix that was then dip-dyed yellow/orange/turquoise...

...beaded and finally stiffened with acrylic medium.

Looks and feels like a little Mexican basket :-)

Tea and Leaf Tuesday

I'm certainly in need of my tea indulgence today...

...and it's nice to have it include lovely memories of my little French sojourn way back in March.

I found a delightful tea/coffee retailer in Chartres...

...who had a small range of locally-themed teas!

Today, I'm partaking of "Baiser de Chartres"....

...and considering the leaf is green and there are not a whole lot of obvious flowery or fruity additions....

...the flavour is simply sublime.

Full and flowery....

...and looking good in this tiny Japanese tea cup that I found in a shop called "KIMONOYA" in the Rue du Pont Louis-Philippe (Paris).

On the leaf is a little bamboo plate with a spoonful of a beadmix that I call "Byzantium".

It's for the "Magic Lantern" that I'm making for that Busy Bees workshop...

...more in a couple of days when I've finished it :-)

Tea & Leaf Tuesday

These Tuesdays are coming around a bit too quickly for my liking!

Not that I dislike them in any way...

...on the contrary, Tuesdays are VERY good indeed...

...with both tea and choir...

..but, gosh, the weeks are disappearing at an alarming rate...

..and I still have SO much to do!! :-o

Anyway, tea today is M&S Winter Spice.

No. It's not at all wintery out there at the moment...

...I just fancied the lovely spicy, cardamom & cinnamon taste...

Well...a little bit of what you fancy is good for you isn't it? :-)

On the leaf is a small Indian panel...

...with a little print, some painted lace, beads, and a Banjara dangle.

Tea & Leaf Tuesday.....

I'm on a French theme for the tea part at least....

...because on the day we met up with our friends in Paris...

...as we came up from the Metro station nearest Monmartre....

...the first thing I saw was the Kusmi Tea Shop!!!

So, it had to be done didn't it....

....the purchase of a pack of green teas...

...to go with the pack of Russian teas Bloke gave me for Christmas! :-)

Today's indulgence is "Green Tea with Strawberry"

(Don't you just looooooooove those little tins?!)

...which almost completes the French theme...

...apart from telling you that the first "French collage" has been completed...

...and will be blogged later in the week. :-)

Now to the leaf....

...and for this part we travel to Meso-america...

...for this little pot that I crocheted in linen warp and embellished with turquoise chips.

I dipped it in dye and finally stiffened it with matt varnish.

It sits next to the sewing machine catching all the thread ends.....

...of which there are plenty!

Cheers m'Dears....

...a date with Rudolf...

I know it's not the "normal" title for a blog-post on a Tuesday...

...but THIS Tuesday is a wee bitty different.

 Yes....it's choir tonight....

 ...but not "normal" choir...

(if ANY choir evening can be deemed "normal" with us bunch of loons there!)

No, tonight is "Cupcake Choir Night"!!

This started back in February, on Pancake Tuesday. We took in pancakes, pikelets, leicecs....

...or any other such creations made in a pan...

...and had an extended break during which we smothered said pan-creations with honey, jam etc....

...and noshed our way through the lot! :-)))

It was a nice change to simply singing ...

...so it was decided to have another "noshing-event" a bit later on.

Later on is TONIGHT....."CUPCAKE CHOIR NIGHT".

...and, last week, I put a number of bits of paper with musical themes on them, into a paper bag....

 ... everyone took one....

...and tonight, they turn up with a decorated cupcake following the theme that they drew.

Themes like....

 ...Pipe Organ...

 ...wind instruments...

. ...Pavarotti...

 ....Frank Sinatra....

 ...piano....

 ..to name but a few.

..and what did I draw?

 NUREYEV!!

Well! After various visits to various places over the last week...

..I've come to the conclusion that, for kiddies..

..ballet is NOT in vogue!

Nothing remotely  ballerina-ish could be found in Hobbycraft or any other store!

So, I came home with a packet of coloured pipecleaners and pom-poms...

...and as I drink my "builder's tea" today...

Rudolf's chocolate puddle is drying on the top of a (cheat's) Tesco Double Chocolate Muffin! (We are such a pair of pigs here that I daren't make a batch of chocolate cakes, because we just stuff the lot!)

Not my finest-ever creation I must say!! The poor man looks more like some kind of pirouetting intergalactic space commando!!  :-o

I'll have my camera at the ready tonight so that you can see the other efforts tomorrow :-)))

Tea & Leaf Tuesday ....Casablanca & Bruges!!

Luckily, Chartres is not JUST a very beautiful place....

...but it has some delightful tea shops too....

...and the goodies I came back with will keep my Tuesday Tea postings going for quite some time!

Today, my tea ...

...or rather "infusion" is called "Casablanca"...

...and contains raisins, golden sultanas, almond flakes, tightly-curled rose buds...

...and lumps of marzipan.

It is heaven in a tea cup!

Lovely to look at too :-)

...and on my leaf?

...more French indulgences.

The last of my "Jeff de Bruges" mini Easter eggs.

Well.

One simply must...

...mustn't one?!

:-)

Tea & Leaf Tuesday ....

...and it's out on the terrace for tea today!

The sun is shining...

...it's WARM....mmmmmmmm

...and I'm having a mug of "Japon Lime"...

Green tea with lime flowers.

Feels just right this morning.

Sitting on the leaf are a couple of my "Elegant Eggs" that have been featured in another Popular Crafts issue. This is the Easter edition, out now.

I've used some of the beautiful hand-made lace that I picked up at that marche in Mirepoix last year.

See! There is ALWAYS a use for something special...

...and we should continue to buy bits and pieces and not feel guilty at all!

Tea & Leaf Tuesday ....

...and what shall I have in my teapot today?....

...Chinese Breakfast?...

...Ginger Sun?...

...Bushmen's Brew?...

All arrived in a delightful little packet from Penny.....

...who likes to join me for an "Across the Pond" tea party on Tuesdays.

We decided to have a "tea-swap". Penny's packet got to me in just over a week....

...and contained not only some lovely tea-bags, but also some choccies and one of Penny's gorgeous little punched pockets :-)))

My packet, sent on exactly the same day took over three weeks!

..and, in fact we'd given up on it so packet #2 is on it's way as I type.

Ne'er mind.....

...I am going to enjoy "White Nectar - Osmanthus Spring"...

...in my "Tea For One" teapot and cup!

..and on the leaf?....

More useful things!

Pincushion rings piling up ready for Fashion & Embroidery at the end of the month.

(Some are available in the shop already...you'll find them under "Handmade" :-)

Tea & Leaf Tuesday ....

Whew!

..almost didn't make this one....

...gotta be gone in 10 minutes....

But, here I am with my usual Tuesday indulgences :-)

Tea today is Chinese Jasmine...

...a Christmas pressie from my Bloke....

...and IN another Christmas pressie, a delightful little Chinese tea cup.

My leaf today...

...has the beginnings of something very useful on it!

Any guesses?

:-)))))

(Ooooooo...aren't I cruel!?)

Tea & Leaf Tuesday ....

I'm actually organized today!

...makes a bit of a change from recent Tuesdays :-o

Got all my music sorted yesterday evening...

...painted a load of bits for jewellery samples...

...and even managed to get some finished :-))

I stressed over this one a bit, but I think it got there in the end.

I like the colour combination...

...and the antique-effect bails work well with the patinated and hammered copper wire.

I'm in a light mood too...

...and feeling like something "flowery"...

...so "Kusmi Green Tea with Rose" is just perfect!

The smell is sooooooooooo ....

..rosey....

...and yet there's a slight tannin bitterness underneath.

It works.

Beautifully :-))

Valentine Tea on a Tuesday....

I'm feeling much more relaxed today...

...nothing to do with it being St.Valentine's Day...

..but because I've given myself some "playtime".

Much needed too, after all the writing that's been going on lately!

Of course, the tea-tipple today just HAD to be "Boisson d'Amour"....

...and in my Bloke's hugging-teddy mug!

(That mug is donkey's ears old but NO WAY would we ever get rid of it!)

..now for that leaf....

....the result of my morning at play....

A pendant sample for my "Stunning Vilene Jewellery" workshops at Fashion & Embroidery next month.

I'm REALLY pleased with this one :-)

BIG HUGS to all my lovely blog friends out there....

Tea & Leaf Tuesday ....

It's winter outside...

...and properly this time....

...white fluffy stuff and icicles! :-)

It looks so pretty...

...and so does this teeny tiny little Brambly Hedge Winter set...

..containing a very small amount of my M&S Spiced Winter tea (again!) (I LOVE IT!!!)

And for the leaf...

...I've been drawing again...

...another little house that will soon be stitched.

(..and I couldn't resist including a couple of Carolyn's crystal snowflakes in the piccies...they fit so well with outside right now :-)

Tea & Leaf Tuesday ....

Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

...it's tea time again...

...and after a busy morning, I'm glad to be sitting here with my Earl Grey!

Notice the thing in the background there?

My new toy which will make things a bit easier as far as jewellery bits are concerned.

And on my leaf....

...a little cut piece of painted Vilene sitting on top of some heat-bonded Angelina fibres.

I've not played much with this stuff...

...it's certainly interesting......

Should have some results before too long.....

Fa la la la la.....

Tea & Leaf Tuesday ....

Here we are again...

I can't believe it's been a whole week since the Brambly Hedge "Winter" cup was used for that lovely M&S "Winter Spiced" tea!

It's been a really hectic week, taken up with hospital visiting...

...finishing off textile pieces for another couple of magazine articles...

...AND sorting out a veritable MOUND of music for choir tonight.

Of course, that's exactly when the printer decides to play up isn't it?!!!

Never mind....it's all done...(apart from the writing of the articles :-o )...

...and I can now sit down with an orient flavoured Japanese Sencha....

...in one of the beautiful little tea-tasting bowls given to me by my Bloke for Christmas :-)

It doesn't look much when dry, but after steeping you can see all the full leaves and flower heads in it.

It is delicate and delicious.

On my leaf this time....

....I have placed a little sketch.

I have another little book on the go...

...getting filled-up with "little houses" that will (eventually) get turned into stitched and/or stuffed pieces.

This was done from a photo I took whilst living in Brittany....

...where they have such beautiful little houses....

(a lot of which have been captured and are sitting on my hard-drive or cd's!)

..if I can get my writing out of the way soon....I can begin stitching this one by the weekend....

...I'll enjoy that...
