Sashiko samples piling up!!

This pile of Sashiko workshop samples is piling up nicely!

I've done the larger pieces...

...and have top-stitched around all the hexagons...

...which I much prefer to seeing them plain.

I know I won't get them all finished before Venice...

...but they won't take me too long...

...and they'll be up on my stand at the NEC in March!! :-)

Now I need to go tidy my table.

I had one avalanche yesterday...

...and there'll be more to follow if I don't move some of the stuff!

700th Blog Post!!! Has it REALLY been that long!?

Well!! Who would have thought it...

...way back there in September 2008...

...that I'd STILL be blogging now...

...and am posting my 700th offering!! :-)

It's been quite a journey...

...and I've met so many lovely people along the way.

Thank you all for being around...

...it's been an absolute pleasure having you in my creative life!

Back to business.....

This is the second sample that I'm working on at the minute...

...a lovely big "flower"...

...stenciled and stitched...

...and some "grasses" penciled in ready to go to the machine later.

Plodding on...

...plodding on...

:-)

...a bit further on...

I was at the machine until nearly 9 pm yesterday...

...and went to bed with a pain in the neck!

STUPID!!

But...

...the crane was finished so that I could do the Sashiko design this morning.

I used a "net" pattern for this piece.

I thought it was looking a bit "samey"...

...so got out some red thread.

A little bit of red never hurt anything did it!!?? :-)

It's not finished yet...

...a litle bitty more with the red...

...then the hexagons...

This Empress Mills Klona Cotton is just wonderful for this stitching!

Happy Tuesday.

Haiku Book Workshop - Crickhowell Literary Festival

A wonderful day was spent in Crickhowell yesterday...

...running a Haiku Book workshop as part of the Literary Festival.

As usual...

...there were the messy tables...

...with materials like Sashiko stencils , fabrics and card...

...needles, double-sided-tape and some of my samples...

Carol's inside faces nearly done...

Steve's first attempts at stitching...

...beautiful Sashiko...stitched and drawn...

...and Katie starting her Semamori pieces.

A lovely day indeed!

Have a good weekend lovely people!

Crickhowell Haiku Book progress...

I'm running a Haiku Book workshop at this year's Crickhowell Literary Festival...

...so samples are being sorted before we go away.

I've sprayed the background with Brusho (as I simply HAVE to!!)

...and stenciled on one of the "inside" pages using Markal Paintstiks.

A small Sashiko panel has been stitched onto Klona Cotton...

...and some Haiku by Basho have been printed along with some images of the poet.

Hopefully I can get this one done by the end of tomorrow...

...then, all things being well....

....we should be off for a much needed break! :-)

This will be my last blog post until we have got ourselves comfortably installed somewhere a bit warmer...

...and more welcoming than here right now!!

I'll post again as soon as I can.
