Sashiko at The Wool Croft

Six of us had a wonderful day at The Wool Croft in Abergavenny...

...playing around with Sashiko stitching.

Thanks to Margaret, Keiko, Dawn, Julie and Val for their lovely company.

....and thanks to Ginevra for hosting :-)

Summer School sampling....continued....

The Semamori pages that I showed you yesterday...

...were dry this morning...

....so I've cut some origami papers to fit in the stitched spaces on the backs of the pages.

(Doesn't it feel good to actually use one of those purchases...made sooooo long ago....that you simply KNEW would be useful for something....someday!!)

If you have any such purchases...bring them along and put them to some good and beautiful purpose :-)

The other thing going on...

...has been the messing-about-with pieces of card....for slightly larger book "pages".

These are roughly 8" x 8" and have been covered with gesso....before being coloured with Distress Oxide stamp pads.

Some have had stencils used with another thick coat of gesso before colouring.....

...and these panels have been made to fit the same sized pages...

Stitching is about finished on this one....but those below will have to wait a while...

...although all the machine work is complete (and that may be enough).

Ideas still pouring out.....

Summer School Sashiko

We've been away for a wee while...

...but I've been stitching....

...and playing around...

...with a few more sample pieces that will (hopefully) inspire the lovely ladies who are booked onto my Summer Schools in Harmby and Bishop Burton:-)

Along with many more stitched samples...

...I've been playing with some SEMAMORI on paper...

...using a very old Japanese book that I got on ETSY some time ago.

Pages are made with my "leather paper" and stitch beautifully on the machine.

Some stitching has been done on fabric as well.....

....and I'll be bringing all the stencils to let everyone have a play too!

More to follow....

...a bit further on...

I was at the machine until nearly 9 pm yesterday...

...and went to bed with a pain in the neck!

STUPID!!

But...

...the crane was finished so that I could do the Sashiko design this morning.

I used a "net" pattern for this piece.

I thought it was looking a bit "samey"...

...so got out some red thread.

A little bit of red never hurt anything did it!!?? :-)

It's not finished yet...

...a litle bitty more with the red...

...then the hexagons...

This Empress Mills Klona Cotton is just wonderful for this stitching!

Happy Tuesday.

Teeny Tiny coins...

...have been stitched into the corners of each of the completed Hmong panels.

I got them as charms, so they came with little hanging loops...

...that I really didn't like, so I cut them off and sanded down the raw metal bits that were left!

I've sprayed the book and box papers with Brusho Sprays...

Now all I have to do is decorate around the pages...

...and make up the box :-)

(It'll have to wait a few days as I'm preparing for my Sashiko Workshop with Cardiff Quilters on Saturday!)
