A Tale of Two Workshops....

It's been busy, busy....BUSY around here!

It feels like I haven't stopped for weeks....and I can't stop yet either!

But...I do have some finished pieces....

...and therefore some pictures to show :-)

First of all, the sample Tri-Fold Petroglyph Book for my workshops at Harrogate Knitting and Stitching Show next week...

I have spent HOURS making all the parts, printing text and notes,  and making this sample....

...I hope the participants will enjoy themselves on Thursday (3.30) and Sunday (1.30)

Maybe I'll see some of you there. I'm on Stand TG137 in the Textile Gallery!

OK

Workshop number 2 is my Winter Solstice at Arts Alive Crickhowell.

I've prepared plenty of examples and samples for this workshop taking place in Crickhowell on the 6th & 7th December. It will be such fun...the same as the last one!!

Here's a Markal Stencil that has been stitched with metallic thread...

....a lovely bunch of Colouricious wooden print blocks to play with....

...a boxful of rune print blocks....

...hand-carved by MOI! :-)

...and this little rune book has been made using lino blocks run through my little Italian litho-press.

It'll be possible for folk to make bags, coasters, calendars, cards, blessing books, and all sorts of lovely things for an alternative Winter Celebration!

Ploughing on.......

Good Grief!!

Has it REALLY been THAT long since I posted here?!

Tellings-off on postcards please :-o

Don't know what it is lately...

...but I seem to have had soooooo much to do for various different projects...

...that the world of the internet hasn't had a look in!

I seem to get one thing done-and-dusted....

...then another thing pops up demanding attention.

More magazine projects - with their associated deadlines...

...workshop samples...

...and then a phone call letting me know what cruise journeys I will be making in 2015 and 16!

Exciting stuff! (More at a slightly later date though...Sorry!)

My workroom resembles a tip...

...and many bits are being worked on.

But all I can show today are some tree pieces for my Winter Solstice workshop at Arts Alive Crickhowell.

The first two have been printed and stitched
(Using a beautiful wooden block from Colouricious.)

...and these that have been done using a Markal Paint Stick through a stencil.
(Both from Colourcraft Ltd)

I'll be putting some backing/stabiliser on these and then doing some stitching I think......

Once these are done...

...I'll be excavating the small litho press and printing some lino-carved rune blocks onto watercolour paper....

...then printing some sheets for my workshops at the Knitting and Stitching Show at Harrogate....

This girl's work seems NEVER to be done!!

(More to show in a few days...)

Yey!! Finished ....at last....

Well...after having to divert my attention away from this piece...

...to attend to a serious problem with another one....

...I actually got the thing finished yesterday evening! Yey!!!

And not only the panel itself was done either.

I also printed out the instruction and "ephemera" sheets.....

...AND got all the screen-printed and other fabric pieces together...

...along with the bags of threads, buttons, laces, ribbons and beads!

Boy! Do I feel a whole lot better now!

Now all I have to do is update the website this evening...

....about time too!! :-o

Lavender & Lace Jewellery

Been experimenting with some of my dyed tissue....

...making a few samples for Harrogate...

...just to show what one can do around a theme...

The photos don't do them justice.

They have a lovely "dreamy" look that I'm very pleased with...

Back home and playing catch-up again!

I've had a little break visiting Pops down in Cornwall....

....and meeting up with lovely blog friend Carolyn in St. Ives.

The weather (actually) wasn't too bad...

...and we managed to get around and see a few places before heading home again.

The only photos I took this time were at Mullion Cove...

...but seeing as I got LOADS on the last visit...

...I'm not about to fret too much! :-)

The next few weeks are going to be VERY BUSY INDEED....

...and I'll try my best to keep up with blogging, but please forgive me if posts are a bit spread out.

I was going to put more info up on the sidebar about the workshops at FOQ, but, after checking yesterday, they are almost SOLD OUT!!! Only 3 places left for Sunday with Friday & Saturday all gone.

Even the ones at Harrogate are beginning to fill..

...and that's AGES away yet.

I'm off upstairs now...

...lots of things to do.....

...bits...

Another bit of "retail therapy" at Harrogate...

...resulted in the purchase of one of these.

...a lucet for making cord.

I'm intending to use the cord for couching in the next body of work...(I'll be saying more about this over the coming weeks)

...and the process is so enjoyable to do :-)

(Once you've got started that is!!)

Here's a piece of punchneedle work that I managed to get done during the 4 days of the show...

...a bit of a miracle really, considering the number of times I stopped and started in between talking and showing how it's threaded or done.

Ne'er mind though. There are a lot of people who bought an "UltraPunch" tool...

...and should be happily punching away by now :-)

Back here, stitching has also been happening.

Small squares...

..with both stitching and lots of beads...

...that will be joined together to form a much larger finished piece.
