We have been promising ourselves a visit to Rosslyn Chapel since about 1996.
Then.....
...the Da Vinci Code hit....
...and half the world and it's neighbour decided to go visit!!
So...
...we left it...
...and left it...
...but...
...my teaching stint in Northumberland this year put us near enough to actually get there!!
AT LAST!!!!!
No photos allowed inside...
(don't know why.........and some folk were taking photos with their phones anyway!!)
...but I took lots outside.
Enjoy
I did some sketches inside....
...but will do more when I get some time - Ha Ha!!
Yes, it's beautiful...
Yes, it's a bit mysterious...
and YES, there are still too many visitors!!
Loads of people were coming in after 5pm, I suppose to try to get the place to themselves at the end of the day (before closing at 6pm).
NO CHANCE!!
The place was still fairly full at 5.30 and talks still going on.
There was not a moment when the place was still and quiet.
I did some pendulum dowsing...
...but responses were very confused.
Don't quite know what to make of the place.
If anyone goes to visit though, if you can.....
...go a few miles down the road to a little place called "Temple".
This is the ORIGINAL base of the Knights Templar in Scotland.
There's a lovely ruined church called "Temple Oldkirk" nestled in the South Esk Valley.
Not ornately decorated but well worth a visit.
Take a picnic and stay awhile...
...Peace reigns!!
