All set....

...for whatever is going to happen in 2013!!!

The Christmas and New Year holidays were a bit of a wash-out here, to say the least.

Bloke came down with a bug and missed the last week of term....

...and then the nasty little critter hung around for the WHOLE of the two week holiday, scuppering all of our plans :-((

We didn't even have Christmas Dinner!!

The turkey is still in the freezer :-o

Ne'er mind....maybe we'll use it for Easter....

Anyways....

...the new year has started with forays into the dye pots.

Looky looky at these beauties!!

Tissue dyed in plastic beer glasses :-)

The colours are just glorious...

...and I'm now itching to get on and do some collage, printing and stitching on them.

This tissue has a high wet-strength and takes dye beautifully. It also adheres to itself when steam-ironed, and can then be folded, stitched or whatever.....

I'll be using these lovely sari-silk ribbons and Oliver Twists shiny threads too.

Ooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

And I'll be having an even BETTER time in the workroom this year.

Why?

Because when we were confined to quarters over the holiday period...

...I shifted myself and sorted out the dreadful MESS that was my workspace!

It had become so badly cluttered that I was finding it difficult to work in there. Stuff everywhere....couldn't find anything without major excavation.....get the picture?

Thank goodness for IKEA!...who do the most wonderful shelving!

...and ....Ta Da!!....organised workspace with room to move...

...for the first time in a couple of years :-o

...and I can SEE where everything is now!!

(There's still WAY TOO MUCH in there though :-))

Hope you all had a great holiday...

...and have settled down into your respective creative grooves already....

oh what a bummer about the bug and missed holiday!!! hope all are feeling better now.

and now it's my turn to feel some envy... it's been years now since I invested in IKEA for my workroom and needless to say, it's a total mess again.

Good word ....."bummer"....yes!

...and "yes" things are mostly "better".

The IKEA thing was an absolute necessity as it was getting a tad dangerous in that room. A back injury was begging I think....

But no more! All is good and tidy and just great to work in :-)

I hope you're all feeling better now Chris!
What fabulous colours you're creating! What sort of tissue paper are you using??

All better thanks Gill!

The tissue is an adhesive backed abaca that adheres to itself to make a much heavier paper if steam ironed.

It will also adhere lightly to cotton fabric which allows designs to be stitched without marking the fabric first. The paper then tears away without leaving a trace.

I'm using it a LOT lately! :-)

WOW! I love these colors. That paper sounds wonderful and so easy to work with. Most of my studio is furnished with IKEA stuff -- I love it. I know what you mean about working in a mess -- I simply cannot do it. The days are short enough as it is without spending half of one looking for something that I know is here 'somewhere'! Glad to hear the 'bug' has gone away. We're surrounded by people with the 'flu' this year. I've had my shot and am holding my breath a lot!

gorgeous dying you did, even after such festive period :-(. My room needs to be cluttered every three months, otherwise I can't even see the floor ... so yours looks greet right now. but don't have any illusion ... creative minds needs clutter :-)

I have had fun dyeing fabric and threads today (my husband thinks I'm mad), what fun to dye tissue paper too! I am also in the middle of tidying my workroom, as like you I wasn't able to work anymore. Still have a long way to go, perhaps a trip to Ikea is needed!

Thanks for the words ladies...

...I'm so glad it's not just me who's a clutterbug!!

I've spent some time ironing the tissue...then more time scrunching it up again and ironing it to an un-dyed piece....it gives a wonderful texture.

Will show and tell soon :-)
