Teeny Tiny balls of deliciousness!!
While we were away...
...I came across a wonderful knitting/wool shop in Lincoln...
...called "Number Four" - https://www.facebook.com/numberfourstore/
They have an amazing choice of beautiful yarns...
...and I simply could not resist this box of teeny tiny balls of cotton/polyester yarns...
...in sooooooo many colours!!!
I shall be making some teeny tiny crochet squares....
...to grow into something NOT so teeny tiny!! :-D

New look....and more...
Well...
...I'm sure you can see the new look and colourway on this blog...
...more natural and autumnal.
I've also changed the blog description...
...from "flitting around in blogland" ...
...to "creating a beautiful life" :-)
I'm going along with the way I'm feeling right now...
...and, while I can't do anything about the stupid-stuff going on in the country/world at the minute...
...I can do something about what happens in my own personal environment!
A start has been made after a visit to Tetbury on Sunday...
...where I bought a couple of balls of coloured jute twine from the Highgrove shop.
Delightful colours of Pumpkin and Sage Green.
I've begun to crochet a new sewing basket...
...so that the plastic one (made in the PRC) can go into the re-cycling bin! (...and hopefully back to the PRC!)
I've also put all my bookings into the new "Earth Pathways" 2018 diary...
...whose front cover echos the Nature theme going on around here!
Finally...
...here's this week's Riverford delivery.
Our much looked-forward-to Squash Box!
A spaghetti squash and some beetroot got roasted yesterday...
...along with some red onions...
...all of which tasted divine with a perfectly-cooked duck-breast :-)

...more Hygge...
Crochet this time.
I've been having a bit of a turf-out and tidy-up over the last couple of weeks.
We've had the loft boarded for storage so a lot of stuff cluttering the place can be filed away out of sight!
There is also a skip outside which will be quite useful methinks.
anyway....back to the crochet...
I started these granny squares ages ago, then the basket that they live in got buried...
...but has now been excavated.
I've done a few more but there's still a looooooong way to go before the finished blanket gets onto the foot of the bed!

Tea & Leaf Tuesday....
It's feeling a bit more like a "normal" Tuesday today....
...because the pills have helped me to get some sleep...
...so I'm packing my bag for choir tonight.
I've missed FOUR WEEKS with my bonkers little group...
...and I'll be glad to see them again!
Bloke bought me a "Bouquet of Flowers" for Christmas...
...in a tiny tin with "Kusmi" on it...
...and that's what is in my Portmeirion tea cup today.
Flowery (of course) and delicious...
...and making me feel ever-such-a-bit spoiled.
On the leaf is another little crocheted pot...
..made in creamy-white cotton and linen mix that was then dip-dyed yellow/orange/turquoise...
...beaded and finally stiffened with acrylic medium.
Looks and feels like a little Mexican basket :-)

Tea & Leaf Tuesday.....
I'm on a French theme for the tea part at least....
...because on the day we met up with our friends in Paris...
...as we came up from the Metro station nearest Monmartre....
...the first thing I saw was the Kusmi Tea Shop!!!
So, it had to be done didn't it....
....the purchase of a pack of green teas...
...to go with the pack of Russian teas Bloke gave me for Christmas! :-)
Today's indulgence is "Green Tea with Strawberry"
(Don't you just looooooooove those little tins?!)
...which almost completes the French theme...
...apart from telling you that the first "French collage" has been completed...
...and will be blogged later in the week. :-)
Now to the leaf....
...and for this part we travel to Meso-america...
...for this little pot that I crocheted in linen warp and embellished with turquoise chips.
I dipped it in dye and finally stiffened it with matt varnish.
It sits next to the sewing machine catching all the thread ends.....
...of which there are plenty!

...beautiful colours!...
..are what I've had out of the dyepot this weekend.
Some Ebay bargains....
...crochet table mats....
...and some gorgeous heavy woven raw silk fabrics...
...are now in a "French" mood.....
...along with some fine cottons...
...more silk ribbon...
...and glimmering, shimmering viscose rayon.
The latter caused me a bit of a problem ....
...as it all got tangled on the umbrella swift....
..... so I had no alternative but to take a scissors...
... and cut right through the skein!
No Wonderwool for me this weekend. :-(
Not really feeling up to going out...
...especially in this awful weather we're having...
...and I REALLY need to stay in and get on with some more stitching.
The dye-pot delights have made for a happy couple of days indoors though. :-)

Hyperbolic stash buster!
Hmmmmmm...
...sounds like some kind of illness you need medication for!
But no...
...it's one of these instead :-)
(sorry about the lighting in this one!)
..in lovely shades of autumn.
I DO like to have a bit of crochet to do when the evenings start drawing in...
...and when you have as many odd balls of wool as I do...
...one of these easy-peasy hyperbolic scarves are just the ticket.
You can use as many (or as few) colours as you like...
Start with 150 chain; 3 more for a turn; then do 150 trebles (dc in USA I think).
Row 2; ch 3, treble (dc) 6, tr 2 in next tr., tr 6 etc to end.
Row 3; ch 3, tr 5, 2 tr in next tr, tr 5 etc to end.
Row 4; ch 3, 1 tr in each tr to end.
Row 5; ch 3, tr 4, 2 tr in next tr, tr 4 etc to end.
Row 6: ch 3, tr 3, 2 tr in next tr, tr 3 etc to end.
Row 7; ch 3, 1 tr in each tr to end.
Row 8; ch 3, tr 2, 2 tr in next tr, 2 tr etc to end.
Row 9; ch 3, tr 1, 2 tr in next tr, tr 1 etc to end.
Row 10; ch 3, 1 tr in each tr to end.
That's the basic scarf. You can add whatever edging you like.
Get out those hooks!!
