Escapism....with some red stitching

Those of you that have been coming around here for a while...

...will know that when I'm not doing something strange or "tribal"...

...I can be found with a needle and red thread.

I wouldn't go as far as to call myself a "real" cross-stitcher (those being the ones that can follow complicated charts with loads and loads of colours etc)...

...but, when the nights start getting darker...

...my mind turns to the north and it's red stitching!

I LOVE those traditional northern patterns that hark back to times long ago.

I've been lucky enough to find many designs (FOC) online...

....but the real scoop came when I found "ModernFolk" on ETSY!!

I already have several charts in my folder...

...and this one "Valkommen" (Swedish Welcome Sampler)  has just been finished. YEY!

I've even got a frame for it to go into :-)

My favourite red is DMC 4210, so I got plenty of skeins to last me through the winter...

...and, although I have larger "ModernFolk" pieces to do...

...I've started a small-ish "Vierlanden" motif that I got in a download from "Needleprint".

The rhythmic, meditative motion of cross stitching simply does it for me of an evening.

No need to think...

...just relax and enjoy.

This is a window into my winter-evening-world!! :-)

I'm off to the NEC tomorrow for a little bit of retail-therapy. Anyone else going to be there?
