Paint play...

I've had a lovely morning playing around with some Colourcraft "Aztec" metallic paint.

This one is not acrylic-based...so is not ideal for use on fabric...

...but WOW!! is it great on paper/card!!

Yes...I've used metallic paints before, but the depth of "bling" in this one is amazing!

(Sorry about all the exclamation marks!)

It shines and glimmers like nothing else...

...and is especially brilliant on dark backgrounds.

I used black 230gsm card...

...and sprayed it with "Shimmering Charcoal" and a bit of "Shimmering Blue" Brusho.

Let it dry...

...then sponged the "Aztec" paint through some stencils that I cut yesterday.

(Aztec paint called for Aztec designs...)

Finally, just for fun...

...I used a couple of Greek helmet stencils that were lurking in my stencil folder! :-)

...a makeover...

I decided a little while ago ....

...that it was about time my blog had a bit of a "makeover".

It's been stuck with the same colours/fonts etc for quite some time now...

...and I liked the idea of a slightly "gentler" colour scheme.

So....

...here it is...

... more along the lines of my "Lavender & Lace" theme.

I'm pleased with it...

Happy Easter lovely people.

Stitch Magazine Issue 100!!

What an achievement for the lovely Kathy Troup...

...editor extraordinary...

..and great friend!!

I am so sad to see here leave her post...

...but with a new grandchild...

...and lots of ideas to follow...

...she's earned her "rest". Ha!

I have an article included here...

...my punchneedle bag called "Dreamtime".

Design based (loosely) on Aboriginal patterns, hence the name.

Here's a close-up of the punchneedle panel...

It's done with a Cameo Needle Punch...

...available in my shop here.

I used Wonderfil "Razzle" for my sample..

(also available from Cotton Patch)

...but many other threads can be used too.

I'm going to be picking up my punchneedle again soon...

...as I have LOADS of pattern ideas going around in my head!!

Watch this space...

...a little bit of red she said...

Neither do some teeny tiny mother-of-pearl buttons.

My Sashiko samples are all done...

...for now at least...

...and all ready for the Cardiff Quilters AGM on Saturday.

See you there girls! :-)

...almost done...

I've been working on a larger Sashiko piece this week...

...and now it's almost done...

...just one more row to do around the outside...

Phew!

I'm going to do a little bit of "extra" work on this one though...

You'll see when it's finished.
