...a beginning...
Back a few posts ago...
...I mentioned a bit of a Romanesque thing going on.
well....
...I know it's only a bit of scrap paper that was sitting on the corner of my desk...
...but I'm really quite pleased with the day's doodlings...
(The blobs of paint were from where I'd been painting some beads!!)
I got myself a nice new Khadi book...
(I like these long, thin books these days...)
...and sprayed all the pages with Brusho
I shall do a little bit at a time...
...with my lovely big fat pencils!

...a bit of a Romanesque thing going on...
we had a lovely day out yesterday...
...visiting places in Herefordshire...
...taking photos of Romanesque art.
Our first port-of-call was the Priory Church at Leominster...
...with it's glorious doorway and carved capitals...
...and ducking stool!
A little note at the bottom of the information board is worth reading...
...especially as most of the occupants of the above chair were female!!
After a bimble around Leominster town and a visit to the Lion Gallery...
...we set off home via Pembridge...
...called in at the Old Chapel Gallery...
...and then detoured a bitty to Shobdon to have a look at the Romanesque arches...
...removed from the original church and rebuilt as a "Folly" up the hill.
Most of the stone carving is very degraded...
...but some faces can still be found peeping out of the lichen!
(These two were at the bottom of the columns so upside-down is the right way up as it were!!)
I have become quite obsessed with this art, architecture and time period....
...I feel a body-of-work coming on.....
...more of my "Stitched in Stone" series...
Watch this space!
