Sunny Bluebell Saturday

It was gorgeous yesterday - so off we went on a jaunt somewhere in the direction of Lydney (via Caerwent and Chepstow and back to Caerwent again!)

As ever, we managed to wander off the track, and, as ever, came across some lovely places that we'd not seen before - with the usual little gems of photo opportunities just hanging around to be noticed.

Here, we found ourselves in a lovely wooded area, completely carpeted in bluebells....

...somewhere between Lydney and St.Briavel's......

As we continued on the road towards Tidenham, I just had to stop and take these pictures overlooking the Severn.....

After wiggling around (map-less) we eventually ended-up back at Caerwent. I've loved it here since I was doing my studies at UWCN. Spent quite a few hours scraping around and examining molehills.

(EXPLANATION - Molehills are extremely interesting on an archaeological site like Caerwent, because as they tunnel, bits of all-sorts-of-interesting-stuff like bits of pot etc get shoved out of the tops of them.)

A favourite spot is the Temple site.....it's so peaceful there.....

...and as we went through the Lych Gate of the church........

....I noticed that we were being watched by this little fella........

and, finally, found some more bluebells.....
